The following departments are being offered in the Departments of Periyar University under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) viz.,

The syllabi for all the P.G. courses have been framed in tune with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to render Higher Education, more student-centric and to facilitate interdisciplinary mobility and thereby to enhance-employability components. In addition to offering P.G. courses, all the departments are offering M. Phil. and Ph.D. Programmes.

There are 66 faculty members consisting of one Professor, two Readers, and four Lecturers in the Departments of Mathematics, Commerce, Physics, Chemistry, Geology and Tamil and one Professor, one Reader and four lecturers in each Department, namely, Computer Science, Biochemistry, Economics, Education, Management and Food Science.
