Objectives

To bring the former students of all the departments of Periyar University, Salem, under one forum for exchange of expertise, dissemination of knowledge and talents amongst its members and also for the furtherance of fellowship and recruitment.
To provide placement opportunities to the entire alumni through job fairs and also linkage with various industries.
To create awareness about the educational opportunities through e-transmission groups.
To create and establish Alumni endowments for granting scholarships, prizes and medals to the students showing high proficiency in their studies and honour former students of the University.
To promote cooperative society to provide books, stationeries, food and any other necessities to the students and others at a subsidized cost in the university premises.
To collect funds by subscriptions, contributions, donations and gifts from members, non-members, governments, universities, other institutions, NGOs and philanthropists for furtherance of the above objectives.
To render financial aid for the academically deserved and economically deprived students.
To offer financial assistance to deserving alumni in cases of compassionate circumstances.
To organize cultural and educational programmes and also to conduct alumni day celebrations every year.
To help the students to solve the technical and job oriented issues.
To create awareness about the harmful effect of plastic and non-composite items.

Activities

PUAA is flourished its wing in each department and about 5000 alumni (includes 60 NRI from 15 countries) have registered as members and many programmes includes "Annual Alumni Meet" are being organised to explore the views and experiences of the alumni. PUAA also encouraged all the departments to organise annual alumni meeting to get the feedback for the betterment of the teaching, learning and research activities.

Outcome

Based on the discussions/opinions of the alumnus participated in the meeting, alumnus have planned to create endowments to provide endowment scholarship to the poor students enrolled in the university departments.
More number of alumni contributed in terms of money and materials to the tune of Rs. 9.75 lakhs.

ENROLLMENT OF MEMBERS

Individual Member

The students who are passed out (Post Graduate, M.Phil, Ph.D-Part time & Full time) from the departments of Periyar University are eligible to become an individual member. Students pursuing Post Graduation (second year) and Research (M.Phil, Ph.D.-Part time & Full time) programmes are also eligible to become an individual member.

Life Member

All individual member will be become a life member only they shall pay the life membership fee of Rs.10,000/-( GST 18% will be applicable).

Subscription Fees

Annual Subscription fee for UG Students is Rs.100/- , Annual Subscription fee for PG Students is Rs.200/- , Annual Subscription fee for M.Phil Students is Rs.200/-, Annual Subscription fee for Ph.D Students is Rs.500/- and One time membership fee - Rs.10,000/- (GST 18% will be applicable for all the above subscriptions) shall be collected for the life membership.
