ABOUT LIBRARY
Periyar University Library was established in 1997. It has 78,580 volumes of text and reference books on various disciplines. The library subscribes 180 National and International journals and 13 leading Newspapers. The library is following the open access system and provides its service to meet the requirements of P.G.Students, M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars and staff members of the University. University Library has various sections such as Reference Section, Text book Section, Books for competitive Examinations, Theses Dissertations Section, Back Volumes Section, Reprographic Section, Question Banks etc. Library also extends its facilities to the students and faculties of affiliated colleges.

To develop the University Library a vibrant Resource Centre for supporting academics and research communities ensuring a knowledgeable and prosperous society.

INTERNET
INTERNET facility is available in the library to access e-books and e-journals, which are useful to research scholars to enhance their quality of research activities.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Library is subscribing more than 190 national and international journals and magazines.Necessary steps have been taken to subscribe more number of journals and magazines to enhance the research activities.
DIGITIZATION OF THESES AND QUESTION PAPERS
Digitization of theses and dissertation is under process. Creation of e-question bank is also under process. After completion of this work, digitized information and e-delivery services will be available through LAN.
AUTOMATION OF LIBRARY
Periyar University Library is fully computerized using an inte -grated multi-user library management system. Bibliographic records of book collections, periodicals, CDs/DVDs, Theses and Reports are available in library database and are accessible through Library OPAC.
BAR-CODED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
The Library uses Bar-Code technology system for circulation of books (Issue/Return/Renewal) since July 2006 .
EBSCO FULL text Online Database
Business Source Premier Database of EBSCO is subscribing by our University Library from April 2010 onwards. It is the largest full text business database available in the World. It has more than 2,150 full text journals. Full text is provided back to 1886. This database is the most popular one in the country and is used in almost all Management, Commerce departments URL:http://web.ebscohost.com
ERIC Database
ERIC Database is an offline bibliographic database for educational research with back-file from1995.
WORKING HOURS:
Week Days :8.00 A.M. to 7.00 P.M.
Saturday and Sunday:10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M.
Circulation counter shall be closed at 6.00P.M. on all weekdays and 15 minutes before the closing of the Library on Saturday and Sunday.

Periyar University Library signed MoU with INFLIBNET for establishing UGC-INFONET Digital Library and to access E-Resources available in the UGC- Infonet Digital Library Consortium. The UGC has provided 1 Gbps (1:1) leased line to our University Library through BSNL India and also provided rights to access the following E-Resources.
