Started in 2008 the Department of English ceaselessly strives after quality in content and process. The focus is on facilitating comprehensive learning. The Wi-Fi enabled Department houses support facilities like smart classroom and language laboratory. It offers M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes. The objective of the department is to synthesise teaching, research and extension. The learner platform designed is comprehensive and helps students to face challenges thrown up by the globalised world. Keeping in mind the importance of interpersonal communication in today’s world, the Department offers two Supportive Courses ‘Effective English’ and ‘English for Enrichment’ meant for students from other departments. Our committed faculty impart training in written and oral communication, the success of which is reflected in the placement ratio. Errors committed frequently are identified and remedial drills using the software in the language laboratory are devised by the faculty.
To offer opportunities to explore literature and language across cultures, to motivate students to be responsible citizens and to make every student humane.

M.A. (English) | Any candidate who has passed B.A., English or any other Bachelor’s Degree examinations of this University or any other University recognized by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for M.A. English (2 Year course). Preference will be given to students of B.A., English. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in other disciplines must possess a minimum of 50% in Part –II English. Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 40% in UG degree examinations. |
